What are State Troopers looking for at inspection stations?

NH State Police Troop G Commander, Lt. would like to share five recent trends the state police are seeing in the field, which NHADA inspection stations should review to ensure compliance with state regulations

Saf-C 3215.05 Auxiliary Driving Lamps and Fog Lamps.

A vehicle shall be rejected if:

Equipped with more than three forward facing auxiliary driving lamps or fog lamps;

The auxiliary driving lamps or fog lamps are lower than 12 inches or higher than 42 inches above level ground, measured at lamp center; or

Off-road, roof or roll bar-mounted lights are not covered to prevent light beams from being thrown while operating on a way.

Saf-C 3216.02 Auxiliary Driving Light/Fog Lamp Aim.

A vehicle shall be rejected if the aim of the high-intensity zone of the auxiliary driving lamps or fog lamps exceeds the limits imposed on the aim of the high intensity zone of the respective headlamp low beam.

RSA 638:17 Computer-Related Offenses (Sharing of passwords for NHOST).

A person is guilty of the computer crime of unauthorized access to a computer or computer network when, knowing that the person is not authorized to do so, he or she knowingly accesses or causes to be accessed any computer or computer network without authorization. It shall be an affirmative defense to a prosecution for unauthorized access to a computer or computer network that:

    1. The person reasonably believed that the owner of the computer or computer network, or a person empowered to license access thereto, had authorized him or her to access; or
    2. The person reasonably believed that the owner of the computer or computer network, or a person empowered to license access thereto, would have authorized the person to access without payment of any consideration; or(c) The person reasonably could not have known that his or her access was unauthorized.

Saf-C 3211.06 Tire Width.

A vehicle shall be rejected if the width of any tire or wheel assembly extends beyond the original manufacturer’s specified fender lines, except in the case of passenger vehicles in which the fender line has been extended by using metal, rigid fiberglass or rigid rubber wheel-well extensions.

Pursuant to RSA 266:57, if not equipped with proper fenders, a vehicle shall be rejected if not equipped with fender guards or flaps, which prevent the throw, splash, spray of water, dirt or other matter upward or to the rear.

Saf-C 3245.05 Inspection Sticker Removal.

Upon removal of any inspection sticker, the sticker shall be immediately destroyed so as to prevent re-affixing or re-issuing to any vehicle.
